Hi, we're Aileen and Ellen from Love & Lavender! We've been reading The Loveliest Day for a long time and we're always inspired by the posts Melissa puts together, so it's truly an honor to be posting today while she is on a much-deserved vacation. We wanted to write about one of our favorite trends--flower girls (and ring bearers) going down the aisle carrying signs! There's nothing wrong with a basket full of petals, but these signs have so much more character, and they will definitely put a big smile on your guests’ faces.
This flower girl’s flag is so cute, and would be easy to DIY! Print off a sign on heavy paper, glue a dowel to it, and add a ribbon bow. Voila! via Green Wedding Shoes
This “love” banner would be another easy DIY project–see the tutorial on ‘i do’ it yourself. If you don’t have the time or patience for DIY, BHLDN sells a similar banner for $28. Click here! Photo by Blossom Tree Photography
This is definitely one of our favorite “here comes the bride” signs. The flower girl is adorable too! via Love & Lavender
Here are some some super cute ringbearers–or should we say sign-bearers–via Green Wedding Shoes and Hi-Fi Weddings.
If you don’t want to deal with graphic design and printing, you could use white paint on burlap. Simple, cheap, and cute! via Style Me Pretty.
As they head back down the aisle, the flower girl and ringbearer could wave a different flag like this “they said yes!” one, via Ruffled
Besides heading up and down the aisle, you could also have the kids at your wedding hold up signs for the main events–cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss, etc. They will love having a role to play, and it will look super adorable in your pictures! Check out an example on Martha Stewart Weddings.
Thanks so much for having us, Melissa!
