It's time for another Honeymoon Monday feature! Today, Amy of Bride and Bloom is sharing her Yosemite honeymoon with us.
More from Amy:
We love camping and I couldn't imagine a better way to spend a honeymoon. My husband, Todd, suggested Yosemite and that sounded perfect to me. We had originally planned on camping for five days but Todd's mother was absolutely mortified by the idea of camping for a honeymoon so she insisted on reserving a room at the Ahwanhnee Hotel for 3 of the nights and we camped only the first 2 nights.
One of my favorite things was hiking up to Glacier Point and watching a lightening storm that was happening across the valley on top of Half Dome. I also was terrified and excited when I accidently locked myself out of our hotel room and saw a bear passing. YIKES!
Now, a bit more info about the historic Ahwahnee...

From The Ahwanee Website:
In the early 1920's, Stephen Mather, the National Park Service Director, realized that the Park needed accommodations to suit the affluent and influential traveler. The concept of a hotel such as The Ahwahnee became the impetus to draw such a visitor.
The site for The Ahwahnee, once a village of the native Miwoks, was chosen because of its exposure to the sun and stunning views of Yosemite's icons – Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and Glacier Point.
Completed in 1927, The Ahwahnee design uniquely blends an array of influences including Art Deco, Native American, Middle Eastern and Arts & Crafts Movement. These elements can be seen in the stenciling, woodwork, lighting fixtures and china patterns. Some of the most well loved aspects of The Ahwahnee are its grand public spaces featuring giant stone fireplaces, massive hand-stenciled beams, rich tapestries and elegant stained glass.
Can you believe that I have lived in California almost my entire life and have never been to Yosemite?! I have no idea how that happened, but I need to get there soon and bask in all the natural beauty. The Ahwahnee looks like the perfect place to do that:) Don't you think?

We are dying to go to Yosemite - camping and a hotel stay is definitely the way to go with national parks I think!
I went to Yosemite as a teenager and I fell in love with it - we were in a campervan and remember thinking I would have to return to that hotel one day! It looks divine!
