Beth and Kenny's wedding had an earthy laid back feel, which was perfect for the destination they chose, the Colorado mountains! They made sure that all aspects of the day were personal, from their vows which they tied to a tree to symbolize the organic nature of their love, to the fact that they only used local flowers and meat. I love when a wedding is 100% genuine and from the heart, and Beth and Kenny's wedding was just that! On hand to capture the day's magical moments was Melissa of Fresh In Love Photography.
More from Beth:
Our theme was "Lovebration". We wanted to celebrate our love of each other but also the love between families and friends-marriage being a communion of not just two people but of all the people in their lives. My husband came up with the term "lovebration" and it stuck.

We put together our own flowers. Jennifer at Yellow Rose Flowers was terrific working within our budget, suggesting flowers that would match my vision (a field of wildflowers, wisky, untaylored), and helping design the arrangements. So we designed and ordered the flowers with Jennifer, then picked them up the day before the wedding and five of us ladies put them together. In the end it saved about $300.00, but was way more time consuming then expected. They were all a bit different, and it was nice to mix and match as we pleased.

My mom found my dress at a consignment shop! A value of $950.00, she paid $175 and it was brand new with the tags still on it. 100% pure silk, Waters gown-it was perfect!

We wrote our own vows (the same to each other) which we tied to trees, so when it was time to exchange them we walked to the trees and got the papers and then read to each other (like our love had grown from a very natural place)

During the ceremony, Kenny's best friend played live music.

Since it was a "destination" wedding (we are both from the midwest and it was in CO) we wanted to make it a gathering not just a day. Well first...with the economy and travel expenses, we only had 35% of our invited guests. That was disheartening as a bride and groom but we had to be understanding of our friends and family. Traveling is expensive and couples need to be prepared for how that will affect their guest lists. In the end, our 80 guests was a great size-intimate yet still a party.

We made playlists on our iPods instead of a DJ. One for dinner, one for dancing. We asked a friend to keep an eye on the music & make announcements (like father/daughter dance) It was really low key and casual.

Plan the wedding together, as a couple. Its not the brides day, its the couples day and just as important to both of you...maybe just in different ways. Figure out what planning tasks each of you would most like to do then trust that the other person to make the best decision representing you as a couple. Guys love music, food, and booze...us ladies tend to like flowers, accommodations, etc.
BE YOURSELVES!!! The media and wedding industry try and tell us what and how a wedding should be like-remember what the day is about, you two coming together as a "two-piece-set". The way you dress, the venue, the food should be a reflection of who you two are and what you stand for/represent. Examples, we had all locally raised meat for dinner and our flowers were all CO grown because that was important to us. My wedding shower & bachlorette party were 100% organic.
