Milk and Honey is the brainchild of sisters, Ilissa and Dorian Howard. Based in Los Angeles, they offer custom made shoes, which is perfect for all you brides-to-be out there! They even offer the option of lining your shoe in light blue for your "something blue". I know when I was on the hunt for wedding shoes, I had a really hard time finding the PERFECT shoe. I wish I had known about Milk and Honey back then!
They have an online shoe builder so you can design your shoe and see how it will look before placing your order. How awesome is that?! If you're in Southern California, you can visit their Los Angeles showroom to check out samples and swatches in person. If you're not in the area, don't worry. They will still take great care of you and help you get the shoe of your dreams!
Here's a bit of info from Ilissa and Dorian about how Milk and Honey came to be...
Sisters Ilissa and Dorian Howard always dreamed of two things – an apartment in New York City to share, and a closet full of glamorous, gorgeous shoes not to share. The apartment in New York City was checked off the list right out of college, but the closet full of shoes? That route was a bit more cirquitous…
After Ilissa graduated from Colgate University and while Dori was still at NYU, the shared apartment in the West Village became a reality (never mind that it was a 5th floor walk up and when they both blew dry their hair at the same time, a fuse would blow, causing one of them to run to the basement of the Indian restaurant next door to change it!). Ever the social butterfly and great at handling people, Dori launched into a career in film, working for companies including Miramax, New Line and Paramount. At the same time, Ilissa tapped into her inner child and was captivated by the toy industry, gaining experience at Mattel and Disney among others. Film eventually sent Dori to Los Angeles, while toys sent Ilissa on business trips around the world.
Always the more fashion forward (and peripatetic) sister, Ilissa continued her extensive traveling and discovered little shops with skilled artisans who would create whatever she wanted to her exact specifications. More specifically and most importantly, she was able to find artists to design shoes exactly the way she wanted them.
This seemed too good to be true and the sisters quickly knew that they were on to something special. To Ilissa and Dori, having the exact pair of shoes they wanted, that they had been searching for but couldn't find, was like reaching the promised land... the land of milk & honey. And from there, milk & honey shoes grew into what it is today – a haven for the shoe obsessed and the style infatuated, a place where women everywhere can take control of their fashion destiny and design their own shoes.
Milk and Honey offers animal friendly options for those of you who choose not to wear leather. You can design a pair of shoes made entirely of high-end synthetic materials. You don't have to sacrifice fashion for compassion!
Celebrities like Ginnifer Goodwin, Emily Deschanel and Whitney Cummings have sported Milk and Honey shoes on red carpets and TV appearances. When you rock your custom made shoes, you will feel like a celebrity too:)
Ilissa and Dorian were kind enough to extend an exclusive offer to readers of The Loveliest Day. Purchase a pair of custom Milk and Honey shoes through August 27th using the code TheLoveliestDay and get 25% off!!! This is a seriously amazing deal, and I'm so excited to share it with you!!!
