An Eclectic Handmade Wedding...

Shirley and Eric's awesome New York wedding, captured by Angelica Glass, was a veritable DIY extravaganza! Their venue had a gorgeous rustic barn which paired perfectly with all the eclectic details hand made by Shirley, Eric and their family and friends. I loved seeing the beautiful Vera Wang dress Shirley wore! It was in my top three picks when shopping for my own dress, so it was really fun for me to see it on a real life bride. I have to say, I think Shirley looked absolutely stunning. She rocked that dress, and her sparkley blue Louboutins weren't too shabby either!!!

More from the bride, Shirley:

Eric and I have been together for 14 years and were secretly married a year before we had a our "wedding". We're not the type to seek out attention, so committing to a formal wedding day ...with guests(!).....was more than a little nerve wracking! We worked through it by really focusing on making it a personal, DIY affair that captured who we are as a couple.

We didn't really have a theme. I just knew that barn would lend itself to rustic decor, so we kind of worked around that.

I scoured flea markets for vintage medicine bottles, birdcages, hankerchiefs and old books. Then we threw in some shabby chic elements with the crystal chandeliers and lanterns.

Eric designed the website, invitations and the ceremony programs.

My bridesmaid's mom made our wedding signs and our groomsmen were stringing up streamers at our ceremony sight the morning of our wedding. It was very much a collaborative affair.

I walked down the aisle to "Melt with You" by Nouvelle Vague, and even though we didn't write our own vows, it still felt heartfelt and personal. Our cat, Chunks, even got 2 shout outs! We ended the ceremony with "Sweet Pea" by Amos Lee. It was very "us" and very sweet.

I DIY'd alot of the decor-- the birdcages, ring pillows, buntings, seating cards and wish card tags.

Try not to sweat the small stuff and have a good time--it goes SO fast! Also, there are a lot of wedding specific classifieds, so you don't have to spend a lot of money. I bought all of my decor from other brides and my dress too. Decide what's important to you and get resourceful!
