Retr0lux Giveaway Update...

I'm pretty excited about this post! Remember the Retr0lux giveaway I did a few months back? Well, the lucky winner was Debbie (who has her own blog, Bridalhood) and she just got married! She donned the custom hair piece she won in the giveaway on her big day, and I was absolutely overjoyed when I got to see the pictures. It was beauuuuutiful!!!

I have some images to share as well as some info straight from the bride, Debbie and the genius behind Retr0lux, Dana.

From Debbie:

I was so excited to see a giveaway for a custom hair piece on your blog since I had been searching for the perfect one for my wedding. I thought it was important to have a custom piece because I was having my dress made by a dear friend of mine and that way everything would be just how I wanted it and with some design influence by me. I knew I did not want a traditional veil and originally wanted something boho chic.

When I started working with Dana she probably thought I was crazy because I sent her about 50 different pictures of hair pieces all varying styles, and she had to help reel me in a bit and narrow the design to one look. Once we had the overall vision down she went to work on a design. I loved her initial design, which looked very similar to the first inspiration picture I provided. She ended up sending me the finished piece, but constructed it in a way so there were four different ways I could wear it - I loved her for that because it meant I had options. And since I live in FL and was getting married in OR it meant no hair trial, so I just had to wing it once I got there and hope the hairdresser knew what she was doing.

What I enjoyed most about having the piece made was the design process. Working with Dana was such a great experience, and she was really patient with me and worked with me until we got something she knew I was comfortable with. It was just so cool to see the vision in your head come through in the final product. On the wedding day morning at the salon we played with the piece quite a bit, and while I loved the original design it just didn't work for me and it would have stressed me out to spend so much time trying to get it right. Luckily Dana had provided options, so we took the original flower, twisted a few pieces back and attached it in my hair. The flower was made of chiffon, and our wedding colors were tied into the piece. The best part - she used some of the same lace from my wedding gown in the hair piece. I loved it! I think it was perfect for my easy breezy barefooted style and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Thank you Melissa and Dana for helping me create the perfect wedding hair piece.

From Dana:

Working with Debbie on her custom hairpiece was such fun because instantly I fell in love with the style she had in mind, and the vision and creative juices immediately began to flow. It's always a collaborative effort to marry all our ideas together in just the right way so the bride is happy.

Adjectives Debbie used to describe her desired look were bohemian, rustic, romantic, and boho chic. She showed me some inspiration pics, and I was excited to have a bride with a unique style that wasn't at all typical. All her feedback began to evoke my visions and ideas. I shared some samples of what I envisioned and we tweaked it from there. I loved Debbie's idea to throw in some hints of color so the construction of the piece included a chiffon floral bloom and a sprig of lavender. I also added a grayish leaf and some of my favorite velvet blush ribbon because I thought the colors would complement her lavender wedding color so nicely.

After seeing the outcome of her beautiful wedding, it was such a pleasure and joy to see all her details come together so lovely from this stylish bride. Debbie it was wonderful to play a part in your bridal look! Congrats!!

Dude!! I love the full-circle factor going on in this post! This is just the sweetest thing ever. It's so great the bride wore what she won. Tho it makes sense, since that headpiece is TO DIE. I am in lust with it.
Great post, my darling'! Oh, and to answer your question: you'll see soon what puzzle your recent post fills, I'll be sure to let you know, sweets. Sorry, that so didn't answer your question. But it's more fun this way. ;)
Slammin hugs and kisses in your face. -A
