I have been thinking about our honeymoon a lot lately. We went to Fiji and split our time between two different resorts, Taveuni Palms on the island of Taveuni, and Likuliku Lagoon Resort on the island of Malolo. It was by far the most amazing place I have ever visited, and if we could afford it (which sadly, we definitely can't) we would go back every year. I wanted to re-live our honeymoon for a moment, so I decided to share some photos. This post is image heavy, so if you don't care about our honeymoon, stop reading now. I won't be offended, this is an admittedly self-indulgent post. Keep in mind, I'm not a good photographer, in fact, I think I'm pretty bad, but I love these photos because of the memories they hold.
This was the first photo of the trip. I was super excited that I could stretch my feet ALL the way out in front of me in our business class seats, so I decided to document it.
After our main flight, we hopped on a tiny plane to take us to our first destination, the island of Taveuni. I snapped this gorgeous reef from the plane.
The first view of our villa at Taveuni Palms. That pool and beach you see, OURS! Totally private, just for us. Absolute heaven!
A look at a portion of the inside of our villa. It had a full kitchen, not that we needed it. They kept the fridge fully stocked with soda, beer, juice and the most delicious coconut cookies. I loved that marvelous light fixture!
One of my favorite things about this particular resort is the dog, Jimbo. He belonged to the owners, but visited us on a daily basis. He loved to play fetch with coconuts on the beach, take naps with us in the sun, and wade in the ocean.
At every meal the staff created a beautiful table set up. I don't think we saw the same linens or decorations twice in the week we were there! This is just one example. I loved all the food we were served, but the fresh papaya soup shown below had to be one of my faves!
This is my husband, Bryan with our favorite staff member, Robert. One day we had coconut crab for dinner and Robert decided to bring the live crab to meet us before they cooked it. To be honest, I felt kind of bad, BUT was excited at the same time. This crab was super strange, it looked like an alien and felt like it weighed 50 pounds.
A pretty view from the island, and one of the local villages that the islanders lived in.
Have any of you ever seen Blue Lagoon II with Milla Jovovich? Remember the waterfall they swam in? This is it! I know it sounds kind of silly, but ever since I saw that movie I have wanted to swim in a waterfall, and the first chance I got was at the very same waterfall. Pretty weird!
We went on a long hike above the waterfall. We found this little purple crab at the top of the mountain.
One day, we took a trip to an island called Koro Levu. It was tiny and uninhabited. We got to spend the afternoon with the island all to ourselves. We snorkeled and had a picnic. It was a pretty incredible experience!
On the way back, the boat dropped us right outside our villa. This is a view as we were pulling up to the beach. You can see our beach, pool deck and the roof of our villa. AMAZING!
Just one example of the beautiful flowers covering the Fijian islands. This island, Taveuni, is known as the garden isle because it's so wet. It was especially lush and gorgeous!
Right across from the tiny Taveuni airport is this weather station sign. Bryan and I thought it was pretty hilarious:)
These are some local islanders who played us songs during dinner on our last night at Taveuni Palms. That brown stuff in the bowl is Kava. It's a local drink made of a root blended with water. When you drink it, it makes your mouth totally numb. Lets just say we weren't exactly fans, but we tried it.
We took a little plane back to the main airport, and then took a seaplane to our second resort, Likuliku Lagoon Resort.
The view as we circled over the resort in the seaplane. We stayed in one of the overwater bungalows, a lifelong dream of mine! Ours was the fourth from the right.
We were greeted with some Veuve Clicquot and fresh fruit upon our arrival. The coffee table sat on top of some glass panels that allowed us to look down onto the reef below us. There was a totally fantastic bathtub that you could soak in while gazing out at the gorgeous turquoise water.
A little view of the reef and the ladder we used to get into the water and snorkel.
There were hundreds of different types of fish that swam around the reef, but these little guys were my favorites. I called them 'Big Eyed Bob'. Don't ask why, I'm a weirdo.
This little gecko fell off the ceiling and landed on the floor. Luckily, he wasn't hurt and he let me pick him up and hang out with him while I read. SO cute!
Eating lunch- his view and my view.
Our last glimpse as we left Likuliku. The beach bar and boat dock.
Where did you go on your honeymoon? If you haven't been yet, where do you want to go? I love talking about travel and vacations with people. I could seriously yammer on about it for hours. And what better vacation is there than a honeymoon? The perfect cherry on top of an amazing wedding.

Wow - amazing, consider these resorts added to my ever growing "travel" bookmark section! Over the water bungalow is a big, big dream. We're thinking Hawaii for the honeymoon though...hopefully Fiji in the not so distant future! Your pics are gorgeous - what sweet memories
Self-indulgent? Hardly! Try informative. :) You may already know this, but we went to Paris for our honeymoon. While we LOVED it, we realized why everyone goes to a beach for the honeymoon - we were pooped! Seeing your pics totally confirms it too. Fiji looks beautiful, interesting and yet totally relaxing. Sigh, now I want to go.
How completely fabulous! Looks like you had the best time! As a total animal freak, of course Jimbo & the mini gecko are my favorites :) No, but this was a lovely post ..makes me really want to go to Fiji!
We haven't gone on ours yet.. almost a year later.. but we will! We're thinking Croatia! Happy Weekend {and Easter!} Lady! xo
Croatia?! That sounds awesome!
I love Fiji! We have been there twice. It is only a 3 hour flight from the Gold Coast and flights can be super cheap if you go at the right time. We go every chance we get and always make awesome friends while we are there. Not only is it a beautiful country but the people are all so lovely and accomodating.
