I love watching awards shows, I always have. My favorite part comes before the show though, on the red carpet! Here are my thoughts on this year's red carpet fashion in no particular order...
Elizabeth Banks was wearing a beautiful grey Versace dress. I love this particular shade of grey, it has a bit of lilac to it. I think her hair, makeup and accessories tied everything together beautifully.

This isn't a typical Oscars dress, but Nicole wasn't there as a nominee or presenter, so I think it's perfect. This Reem Acra dress is stunning and Nicole carries it so well.

For those of you who read my blog regularly, you will know I am a big Jenny Packham fan. I almost hate to say something good about Miley Cyrus, (kind of mean to say, I know, but true) BUT this Jenny Packham dress is to die for! The subtle sparkles and gorgeous bodice with tiny ruffle detailing are divine. Love it!

This may be my top pick of the night. Rachel McAdams looks ravishing in this ethereal creation by Elie Saab Couture. It looks like a watercolor painting, and I love the ruching on the bodice. Let's not forget her divine earrings! She really nailed this whole look.

Cameron Diaz looks radiant in this Oscar de la Renta dress. It's glamorous and fits her perfectly! Her simple accessories really let the dress stand out, as it deserves to.

This Chanel dress is striking, and the always fashionable Diane Kruger is the perfect person to pull it off. I love the contrast between the creamy color of the dress and its black detailing. On someone else it might look like a total mess, but I loved it on Diane!

Kristen Stewart really stepped out of the box with this midnight blue Monique Lhuillier dress. She normally opts for something a little more edgy, but this dress is classic and beautiful. The deep rich color really suits her, and she looks absolutely spectacular!

Now on to some of the not so great looks. Zoe Saldana is so radiant, really a true beauty. This dress is a flouncy mess though. I love the bodice and the purple tones of the dress, but all together it looks horrible.

I understand what Charlize Theron was going for here. Something a little more daring than the typical red carpet dress, but this Dior by John Galliano was not the right choice. Again, I love the color, but all I can see when I look at this is boobs, and not in a good way. The pieces over her chest look like deflated breast implants. And her orangey lipstick? So bad!

Sarah Jessica Parker is a total fashion plate, but I am a little torn on this Chanel Couture number she is sporting. I love the buttery yellow color, unique neckline and the grey detailing, but the silhouette is not my favorite. I do appreciate this dress, but I don't love it. The biggest problem with SJP is her hair. Why is it so frizzy?

Another hair offender is Jennifer Lopez. While her hair is not as frizzy as Sarah Jessica Parker's, it still looks totally messy, and not in a good way. Her Armani Prive dress seemed to be a big hit, but it wasn't on my list of favorites.

Lastly, I couldn't find a picture, but I heard that Woody Harrelson's Burberry suit was specially made for him out of hemp. How perfect! Perhaps he can smoke it when he gets home. I kid, I know you can't smoke hemp, but I wouldn't put it past him to try.
Who did you think made a total fashion hit or miss?

I loved Nicole too - so glad you put her in your round-up. I'm giving props to SPJ too for pushing fashion forward again.
I also thought Demi Moore was a beauty as well. I think I'm the only one that liked Zoe's dress hahah- I dunno I liked the colors and I thought it was different and had character =)
I agree with everything :) I loved Rachel McAdam's look- so classy but also unique. I liked Sandra Bullock's look as well. I, too, hate to say anything good about miley cyrus, but her dress was pretty. The real question is, why was she at the oscars?
